Scott founded Nielson Power Systems and invented an onboard RV generator system that has been adopted widely across the RV industry.

The road so far
From two cars at auction
to 250+ projects.
Scott Nielson has been building in Washington County since 1997. The short version runs like this.
- 1997
Two cars and $6,500
At 21, Scott borrowed $6,500 from his grandfather, bought two cars at a California auction, hauled them to Southern Utah and sold them at a profit. Then he talked a Hurricane used-car lot into a commission deal.
- 2001
Hurricane Valley Auto Mall
Scott and his brother Mike opened Hurricane Valley Auto Mall Inc. and started buying and selling used RVs alongside the cars.
- 2004
Nielson RV
He bought out his brother's share, moved the dealership to State Street in Hurricane, and renamed it Nielson RV. He built the buildings himself.
- 2015
St. George expansion
A 22,000-square-foot facility opened in St. George, with a 150-foot flagpole out front that was later donated to the City of Hurricane for a veterans memorial.
- 2021
Sold to Camping World
In March 2021, Scott sold Nielson RV to Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis. The business was doing roughly $50 million a year, with about $64 million in inventory, land and equipment.

Jellystone Park™ Zion opens
53 acres near Sand Hollow became Utah's first Jellystone Park. "We're not holding back," Scott said of the build. "We're doing it first-class all the way."

Glampers RV & the Commerce Complex
With the non-compete expired, Scott returned to the RV business with Glampers RV out of the 54-acre Nielson Commerce Complex, with a 15-acre flagship planned on Pioneer Road in St. George.
